Everybody thinks they know the Beatles, but how much do we really know?

This is the fourth part of our ongoing look at Alan Klein

and his involvement in the Beatles world.

In a sense of Groundhog Day, we are back at May the 9th, 1969,

which is known traditionally as Liberty Bell Day, or in

Stephen's universe, Liberty Bell Day Part 2. And in Friday, May the 9th, Paul McCartney is expected

to sign a binding contract between the Beatles and Alan Klein. The previous day has seen a legal

lackey travel from beetle to beetle to try and get them to put their signatures

on a carbon copy document that is binding for Mr. Klein. I don't understand this legal mumbo-jumbo,

Stephen. I'm vaguely... This is a typical day in a lawyer's life where you're scuttling around

making manuscript amendments at the last minutes of contracts. All in the day's work. Yes, and charging by the hour and all of it going onto the Apple tab. Good times.

Plus expenses. What we should say is this contract, it will not be binding until ratified at a formal

board meeting of Apple. Yes.

Now, this is an important thing to remember that even if Paul signs it straight away,

even if you signed it first, this ratification has to happen.

Park that thought because it plays an important part in a few moments.

So this day is a day that perhaps because there's been a control of the narrative by Paul in recent years,

particularly when we come to things like the anthology and books like many years from now,
