Summary

In 1971, Paul McCartney decided his third post-Beatles album would be as a band, and the band was called Wings. He was 29. Through Wings he would live the fantasy he had suggested to The Beatles when they started the Get Back project in January 1969: be a real band, start from scratch and hit the road.

In December 2018 an 11-disc boxset came out celebrating Wings 1971-73. In this two part episode, Steven and Jason start with the debut album, Wild Life, and guess which one is a fan?

0:48.6	This is, yes, this has been somewhat contentious even before we hit the studio today.
0:55.5	But the Wings Boxer that came out at the end of last year is just another one of the ongoing Paul McCartney Archive Collection,
1:03.0	which in the grand tradition of MASH lasting longer than the Korean War and Alo Lolo lasting longer than the Second World War,
1:08.7	the Paul McCartney Archive collection has been going on longer than wings by this point.
1:12.6	They are sumptuous reissues of individual albums going back to 2010, which started
1:18.8	with band on the run.
1:19.7	We've had McCartney 1 and 2 in 2011, Ram in 2012, Wings Over America, Venus and Mars,
1:24.0	wings at the speed of sand, tug of war on pipes, peeps, andings at the Speed of Sound, Tug of War and Pipes, Peeps and Flowers in the Dirt.
