And Zimbabwe has finally come to the conclusion that, hey, humans first again.

It's been 40 years since the last elephant cull in Zimbabwe, and now they're contemplating culling a portion of its elephant population to address

human wildlife conflict and food insecurity. So I mean it's been 40 years but the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife has indicated

that culling elephants could be considered to provide food for the population and mitigate the negative impacts of human elephant

interactions.

Yes, Zimbabwe has more elephants than we need and more than its forests can support.

So discussions are underway about culling some elephants and providing the dried meat

to some communities that need the protein.

Zimbabwe is the world's second largest population of

elephants after neighboring Botswana. So if you're an elephant in

Zimbabwe I would think about moving to Botswana very soon.

I'm sure that the elephant protectionist people are all going to be on the run to Zimbabwe

to promote, hey, we don't need to kill the elephants but Zimbabwe is going to say

yeah we do we can call the elephants we can mobilize the women to dry the meat I

don't know why they're mobilizing the women. I guess they're the ones that dry the meat in Zimbabwe.

And they can package it and ensure that it gets some communities that need the protein.

Yes, we're very concerned about it and its impact on the people who may be going to fetch firewood or water because some elephants have actually killed some people in Zimbabwe.
