I have spoken to you over the phone in the past and was inclined to get in touch because

I've reread your wonderful book, Notes on Nothing, The Joy of Being Nobody in which you

describe so beautifully your experience of, well, I'll let you call it what you would call it,

but I would describe it as a shift, an awakening, if you like.

So why don't we dive in and could you share what happened?

Well, I mean, I suppose what the book is,

the way I would describe the book really is all it really is,

I think, is a kind of piece of repotage.

I think it's kind of a report, you know.

It's an attempt, you know, I am a writer.

I've been doing that for a long time. So it's an attempt,

you know, using whatever skills I might have to describe a kind of experience. I would call it a

non-experience that seemingly happened to me a few years ago now. I call it a non-experience because I think it was what it really was,

what it really amounted to was the sort of ending for a little while of my sense of being a separate person,
