Hey everyone, Ellie here, wishing you a happy, not Friday, actually, for once.

We're coming to you on a Tuesday this week because

we just had huge news, obviously, out of the Supreme Court on Monday. We have been talking

about the 14th Amendment on this podcast and in this column for two years now. Back in February

2022, February 18th, 2022, I did my first podcast with all of you about the 14th Amendment,

and I guess to maybe brag a little bit, nailed exactly how this opinion came out today.

I end the piece by writing, quote, the 14th Amendment sits out there on the horizon,

a promising oasis of accountability. But without at least some meaningful guidance from Congress

in the courts, it's just a mirage. And I've been saying it. We've discussed it from time to time

throughout then. It's a good idea, but no one's ever told us how it works. Now we know it's

Congress, as the actual amendment says. And we have our answer. So I wanted to do a little piece on just sort of what does this all mean?

What have the costs of it been?

And maybe what can we learn going forward?
