I think we can say tumultuous week in legal news and otherwise.

I had a unique opportunity this week to talk to Douglas Brinkley.

Many of you probably know the preeminent historian, I think, of this era.

He was a guest with me when I was guest hosting on

Sirius XM. And I asked Doug a question that I thought was really sort of helpful in clarifying my mind.

I said, is this really the most busy, the most hectic, the most chaotic, the most eventful,

whatever you may call it, first two months or so

of a presidency? Or is this really not that far out of the norm if we look back through history?

Because sometimes our sense of time and place gets distorted. Well, Douglas, who is a presidential

historian and knows everything about American history, essentially said, no, you're not losing it here.

This is unprecedented.

He said there are some comparisons to FDR just in terms of the volume of activity, but no comparison

with respect to the substance of the activity in obvious ways.

But I thought it was interesting to hear Douglas say, no, you're not imagining this.

This is unusually and unprecedentedly tumultuous.
