I'm Dr. Ken Moffitt, and I'm a professor of political science here at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on the Illinois side of the St. Louis metropolitan area. And I do my

teaching and research in American politics and public policy, and more specifically, in American

political institutions. And I've done a fair bit of my research in Congress, and I regularly

teach a course on Congress here at S. I U.S. I'm Edwardsville. Now, one of the topics that I talk

about in that course is party leaders in the influence that they have over policy. And today,

what I'm going to do is I'm going to talk about some famous speakers in the House and the ways
