How many times have you heard a joke that you found to be distasteful in some way a joke that was beyond only being

Cringe worthy but to some extent it was dehumanizing a joke riddled with hate whether it be

abelest sexist or even racist sure you might display a feeling of

awkwardness or maybe you would directly express

exactly how much you are offended to the person telling the let's say racist joke

whoever the would-be comedian is may respond to your offense by claiming, it's just a joke,

as if it didn't mean anything, let alone being intended to do harm to anyone, even if the target of their

so-called joke is, in this case, dehumanized.

But as today's guest points out fascist the far right

reactionaries and conservatives of every stripe have long used that excuse of

whatever racist joke they uttered being nothing more than a joke for centuries here in the United States.

In this way when it comes to racist humor, racist can show support for white supremacy

while never being held responsible or accountable for their words.

They can continue their racist ways simply cloaked in the guise of humor.

However, that humor can be very powerful and can reinforce all levels of hatred under the belief that laughter is the best medicine.
