Hello and welcome to the price of football, the show that looks at the money behind the

beautiful game with me Kevin Day and Liverpool University's Kiran Maguire. Kiran, this is

all a bit post-modern, ironic and confusing because this is the last of our special pre-recorded

episodes so I know where I am in time and place but I've got no idea where we are at the moment

when this goes out. I think it's Thursday the 27th of July Kiran but you're on holiday,

you're still on the beach somewhere I hope. I think I'm back. I think I'm teaching probably.

Oh I just imagine it. I had the same as if you were on a beach somewhere where your socks were

rolled up and a spreadsheet over your face when you had a little snooze. Anyway this is the first

in our long promised series of nostalgia episodes. And could be last as well depending on the

reaction of our listeners. Yes very much so. Because we're nice we could have had just a two-week

break and had nothing dead air or we could have put some old highlights out or a good luck

for producer guy and finally an old highlights on but we thought no no we'll give our lovely loyal

listeners something to look forward to even while we're trying to have a break. So we thought we

would do a short pod here about arguably the most seismic event in English football since the

league was founded in 1888. And now that we have that James Brown interview in the can we really

don't have to hang about for an in-depth analysis anyway. It was always better to be just a 15-minute

pod full stop which I said to James Brown at the start of the interview and it's not even a 15-minute

interview. It's about 45 minutes so we don't have to do too much but I think I've always wanted to

do this here and partly we keep saying nostalgia and it will be nostalgia for a lot of our listeners

but for a lot of our younger listeners and for a lot of our listeners only sees this will be

history really. It's just giving a bit of context to how the Premier League developed. So

if we start here we're saying Italian 90 and we're now talking about the summer of 1992.
