There's nothing I like more on ramblings than the excuse to come to Northumberland. So I am delirious today because we're in the middle of the Northumberland National Park, which is absolutely vast and has hardly any people, and in fact is the least populated

national park in the country. And right now, surrounded by pine trees, so there's this lovely,

fresh smell of pine. And it's a relatively still cloudy day. There is some rain threatened for later,

but hopefully it will pass us by. And I'm walking with Phoebe Smith, who is a walker extraordinaire, which I think is fair enough to say, isn't it?

You have done a lot and you kind of walk for a living.

You are a boffy hunter.

I am, yeah. I'm a boffy hunter and a wild camping addict.

I absolutely love walking and, you know,

multi-day walking is fantastic for me,

but I find if I can spend the night and away from a campsite or away from sort of a place

where you're supposed to stay,

I just feel like I connect with the landscape a lot more

and you see it in a different way.

You know, you're often heading into it

when everyone else is going home.

And we're going to walk to a boffey today so just explain exactly where we are and where we're walking okay so

we are near the village of burnett on the road from newcastle to jedba you'd go flying past it

you would and and so there's a little boffey nestled a few kilometres up from there.

Bothys are shelters that are left open for walkers and outdoor lovers to use for free.

And they're a wonderful sort of institution, if you like, very, very British.
