This is the story of the Nord Stream pipelines.

Axios reporting. The Nord Stream one and two pipelines have been central to the energy crisis that has enveloped Europe and the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

While Nord Stream two has an entered commercial operation, its certification was halted on the eve of the invasion.

Nord Stream one provided a crucial pathway for Russian gas to reach Europe until earlier this month,

when Russia closed the pipelines citing maintenance concerns.

Now, two leaks were detected in the Nord Stream one pipeline and one in the Nord Stream two pipeline.

While neither pipeline was operating at the time the leaks were discovered, both were filled with gas, according to Reuters.

Nord Stream AG confirmed that the Nord Stream one control center registered a pressure drop on both strings of the gas pipeline.
