O'ma'am Asatomah Sadgamaya,

Tamasoma, Jotyrgamaya,

Mritiurma amritamgamaya.

Ome, shanty, shanty, shanty.

Ome, lead us from the unreal to the real, lead us from darkness unto light, lead us from death to immortality.

Ome, peace, peace, peace.

The subject this morning is, I'm afraid, an advanced one.

Let me explain what I mean. A senior monk once told me that

when you give a talk, in a talk, there should be something for everybody. There should be something

for the newcomers, the first-timers who are coming to Vedanta, and something for the advanced

students also, something new for them. So that's what I usually do.

You see?

I tend to begin at the beginning in most of my talks.

But today it's not like that.

Today we're going to talk about certain aspects of Adwaita Vedantah,

which are questions which come to the minds of those who have been in it for a long time.

So these questions are dealt with today's talk.

It actually concerns one word in a mantra from the Brihadarna Kupanishad.

The mantra which we have been deliberating upon for some time now,

a very beautiful mantra which encapsulates, to my mind at least,

the entire teaching of Vedantah.
