Welcome to Nocturnal Transmissions, the fortnightly podcast that brings you dark tales both old and new performed by your humble narrator, Kristen Holland.

Now, as a rule, we don't do trigger warnings on nocturnal transmissions. This is, after all, in essence, a horror story podcast.

So if you don't have a taste for dark meat, as it were, your dining in the wrong establishment.

However, we do feel that on this occasion you should be pre-warned that the following story

takes some pretty grim turns and contains descriptions of violence against, well, roast chicken, cartoon characters, and children.

The first two may not unsettle you too much, but the third certainly might. So, be warned. This is a dark

offering, indeed. Having said all that, it is also delightfully horrific, and would add refreshingly unpredictable although we may

have taken the edge off that ever so slightly with this little disclaimer oh well

nevertheless we are quite excited to be sharing this tale with you.

A good kid is hard to raise. The children bounced on the worn couch cushions,

jumping to the carpet with a dull thud and a shriek of joy

as the animated robot on the television took a blow to the face.

Hit him with lightning blast!

Lucas shouted, slamming his fist into his other palm.

Sam squealed with delight, nodding furiously, until the cartoon hero seemed to follow her brother's command and shot a blast of electricity at his enemy.

Both of the older children jumped and stomped their red faces plastered with the wide smiles and gasped breathing of scarcely contained excitement. In the corner, the toddler, Shelby,

vroomed plastic cars around a rug printed with whimsical roads. This is much too violent for you,

too. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, Samantha, be a dear, and hand me that remote.
