when you begin to dehumanize people.

You're no longer talking about them as people.

You're talking about them as members of a class or a tribe.

And you can do a whole lot to somebody

once you no longer see them as a person.

We've seen this in countless societies.

It hasn't happened here, but that doesn't mean it never will.

This is the sort of thing that I think you have to address

really proactively because when it becomes a real problem

that is societal in scope, then it's too late.
