But before that, he worked in the White House.

I called him up this week because I figured this guy's a former government spokesperson. Maybe he can

explain what the Trump administration is doing with all their mixed messaging about the war in Iran.

Turns out Tommy is just as confused as the rest of us.

Listen, I was talking to a reporter friend of mine earlier today who's just like a straight news reporter,

focuses on national security.

And both of us were like, I'm trying really hard to figure out when this war is going to end, what the objectives are that would

allow it to end and how Trump is thinking about it. And neither of us know. Like, and we're really

trying in good faith. I think the communication has been disastrous.

At the Pentagon, Tommy says, there's a name for this kind of communication strategy.

Fubar.

That stands for fucked up beyond all recognition.

I don't know if we're allowed to say that on this, but that's probably what the comms folks over at the Pentagon are thinking.
