Summary

In this Episode, I dive into what separates the gold medalist from the silver medalist. I don't believe it's talent. The real difference is a 1% difference, it's doing everything and a little bit more. Because the fight is won in the preparation, it's giving that extra effort every single day. Remember, success doesn't happen overnight. Keep pushing for small incremental growth and when you look back you'll be amazed at how far you've come. Hey, everyone. My name is Brian Underwood, and this is B.U with B. This is where I just give you

0:06.7

some just in time training, just a little bit of tips, distinctions, rants, things that are on top of my

0:13.1

head. And today I want to talk about why no one remembers the silver medalist.

0:20.1

If you take a look at the greats, the ones that are truly

0:22.9

legends, the ones that become icons in any sport, in any industry, my question is like,

0:30.9

what separates them? What makes them who they are, right? What makes them stand out? What makes them the gold medal

0:42.6

finisher? What makes them the champion of the world? What is it? And the thing that I talk a lot

0:50.8

about is that little bit more, right? It's the 1% rule. Like, what does

0:57.5

1% better mean? Because every single day, we have the ability to give ourselves the gift of being

1:05.7

1% better today. And every day is a brand new day. But for a lot of people, what does that even mean?

1:12.9

And I think that you have to look at the variable of all of these people that become champions

1:19.5

and the people that don't. I don't believe it's talent that separates people from becoming

1:24.5

legends or becoming or making a major difference. I don't believe it's talent.

1:28.9

But to me, one percent better means doing just a little bit more, doing everything that you're

1:35.0

doing, but a little bit more. And we all have that ability to tap in to that extra reserve just a little bit,

1:43.3

right? It's not a lot. And I think sometimes we become

1:46.3

overwhelmed at the task of having to be and having to finish at a place of being a champion

1:56.2

when we're just getting started, right? It's kind of like riding a bike. If you go out and you

2:00.2

start riding a bike and you've go out and you start riding a bike

2:01.1

and you've never ridden a bike, you usually start with training wheels. So it allows you just put a lot of

2:06.2

energy into enjoying the bike. And then as you build your certainty and your confidence, you're able to take

2:11.2

those training wheels off and learn how to balance a little bit. Yes, you fall along the way, but there's a
