Tybreaker. Nothing personal.

One of the day, Monday, October 4th, is Tybreaker.

Spent all weekend doing the calculations, had my fingers out, my toes out, going through

total rainman of who plays, who what happens if there's a three-person tie, three team tie,

a 14-tie for the wild card, the giants and Dodgers and the National League West could have tied and

then played today Monday. The reason why MLB puts an off day in between the start of the playoffs

and the end of the regular season is not to give rest to players. They're used to playing every day

or give them travel time. They're used to traveling and then playing.

It's to play Tybreaker games. When we sat down and figured out there'd be another wild card,

I remember being in those meetings, talking about what it meant to be a wild card,

what it meant to have a single elimination game, which was different when the Marlins were the

wild card in 2003, we went right into the division series. We played the team with the best record,
