No more freeways. This is amazing. Things that I learned actually in

the neighbor of mine turned me on to this and there is a movement going on here in Portland.

I am embarrassed to say I was unaware that has to do with an effort by the city and the county

and the state to expand the freeway that runs i5 that runs right up through the middle of our

city here in Portland. Local movement of young people have come out to say no and the reasons

why are extraordinary. Aaron Brown is on the line with us. Aaron is a political organizer with no

Aaron, welcome to the program. Tell us first of all what brought you guys together and how this

got started. This really stems from the fact I've been working in transportation advocacy for

four of the decade at this point. After seeing how many traffic fatalities we have around a

region, the 40% of Oregon's carbon emissions that come from transportation and the fact that

freeways have never ever actually improved a traffic congestion by widening the freeways,

it became apparent to me that we need to stop spending billions of dollars on these projects
