Summary

It can seem like your relationship with your believing spouse has been downgraded when you think about there not being marriage in heaven. But I think we should consider it an upgrade. The closeness, unity, and love that we will have with each other, not to mention being "married" to Christ, will be so much more than what we have had on Earth. My website: https://BibleThinker.org

Does Luke 20 versus 27 through 36 teach that people who are married on Earth won't be married

0:06.4

anymore in heaven? I feel sad that my husband and I might not be together still in heaven,

0:11.9

totally understand this. Look, I'm married now for 11 years and I get it. Like, you know, the

0:23.9

the idea of us not having our special relationship would just be like the weirdest thing. There's like a

0:28.5

the, yeah, it's just weird. That would be strange, but here's what Jesus says. There came to him

0:35.2

some Sadducees, those who deny that there's a resurrection, and they asked him this weird riddle.

0:40.0

I'll summarize it. Basically, they're like, teacher, this woman, she married seven different guys,

0:44.4

who's husband is she going to be in the afterlife? And they're trying to say that therefore there is no,

0:50.9

there is no real afterlife. Ha ha, here's a tricky question about the resurrection, and you can't

0:54.9

answer it so therefore there is no resurrection. And then Jesus answers them and says, the sons of

0:59.9

this age, Mary and are given in marriage, this age, this time we're in now, but those who were

1:04.2

considered worthy to attain to that age, that's the resurrection and to the resurrection from the

1:09.6

dead, neither Mary nor are given in marriage. That's interesting. Now, you might say, so you don't

1:19.5

marry in the afterlife or in the new, I say afterlife, but that makes you think of a disembodied

1:23.6

state. Jesus is talking about the final state, like we're all resurrected. We have a new heaven and

1:27.0

new earth revelation, the inter-revelation talks about this. He's like, in that state, you could say in

1:31.3

that state, like we're not going to have additional marriages, if you die single, you stay single,

1:36.0

but that's not the context. Jesus is actually saying this in response to which husband that she

1:41.4

did have in life, will she have in the resurrection? And he's just like, there won't be, that's a

1:48.6

non-question. There's no marriage, there's no giving in marriage. They cannot die anymore because

1:53.6

they're equal to angels and their sons of God being sons of the resurrection. Then he goes on

1:58.2

and built another really cool Old Testament, biblical case for the resurrection and the afterlife.
