Summary

There's a blossoming author in our midst today and she's taking the Spin by storm! While riding the coattails of our most senior host's paper repoitroure, she inspires our "other" host to dream big. (He's making great progress with his coloring books, by the way). Yes, Aimee Byrd is the women of the hour and she's hit her stride, forging a path for both church officers and women to work together in taking theology more seriously. Her latest: No Little Women: Equipping All Women in the Household of God is a stand out for the cause. Somehow, Carl & Todd remain stumped: does learning from a woman threaten their manhood? Aimee spares no expense in confirming that threat with her new book ...We're giving away several copies of Aimee Byrd's book "No Little Women" courtesy of P&R, be sure to enter for your chance to win.

Welcome to Mortification of Spin, the casual conversation about things that count with Carl Truman, Todd Pruitt, and Amy Bird.

0:25.5

Mortification of Spin is a weekly podcast from the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.

0:30.6

Let's join this week's conversation.

0:32.8

Thank you. Well, welcome to Mordification of Spin Bullie Pulpit.

0:48.6

Today we're sort of going to take not exactly a walk down memory lane but certainly try to provoke feelings of

0:55.7

deja vu in our listeners some of you may remember that many many years ago there was a little

1:02.7

girl that nobody had ever heard of and two nights on white charges came and plucked her from

1:10.5

obscurity and made her great. Yes, you're probably

1:15.4

thinking already of the first interview we ever did with Amy Bird. Amy, riding on our coattails,

1:22.7

has since become a kind of big deal in Frederick Maryland, I'm talking.

1:28.8

And it's big in Japan as well.

1:31.3

And it's recently written a book, No Little Women, Equipping All Women in the Household of God.

1:37.6

So today, we want to actually interview our fellow podcast member, Amy Bird, about this book, what she hoped to achieve

1:45.6

and is, and at the end, because we can't sell these books, we're going to try to give a few

1:49.7

of them all.

1:51.5

You know, one of the things, Carl, I was thinking about is that while we probably don't want

1:56.5

Amy to comment on this, you know, it was after we, we interviewed her concerning, you know,

2:02.4

her blogging, Housewife Theologian, that kind of thing, and the new book that was set to come

2:06.3

out, we ended up, oh, I don't know, several weeks later, having her back on, and it was

2:10.5

begging me to come back. Begging Amy to come back. It was called that said, you know, we ought to see if she would be a co-host.

2:17.8

Now, one of the things we appreciate is that, you know, she's certainly driven up our ratings because women will actually tune into mortification of spin now.

2:26.3

But the other thing is, is I think Carl and I have played our own role in Amy's life in making her, you know, the kryptonite of everybody else in evangelicalism.
