Something rather strange is unfolding, and I'm not quite sure what to think about it. I am of the view, and as with all of my views, this is absolutely negotiable, and I reserve the right to retreat at full tilt from whatever I say in the context of opinion.

But I am of the view that sometimes it is probably a good idea for governments to be able to govern unimpeded.

Now, this is not a description of enthusiasm for dictatorships.

Rather, it is a recognition, I think, of what you might describe as emergencies. In emergencies,

you know, if we are under attack from a foreign force in the middle of the night.

Any little Billy Joel echoes there,

which are entirely unintentional,

in the middle of the night,

then I don't think that we need to have debates,

we need to have votes,

we need to have parliamentary procedures prior to, for example, shooting the Luftwaffe out of the sky.

I don't know if you're aware that you're not allowed to feel any sympathy for students.

If you're listening to Nick's show this morning, you're not allowed to feel any sympathy for students who were locked up because there was a war 80 years ago. I'm Clayton under any confusion or under any

doubt about that. Stuff the students because war wants. Seems to be the message for much of

Brexit Britain, not here. And I don't think that'll come as a surprise to anybody.
