Hi, I'm Dave. I got an email recently that was heartbreaking from a longtime listener of this podcast, one of the original listeners. And in this email, she mentioned that her breast

cancer has returned. This was something that she battled a few years ago, successfully, and it has

come back.

And this is someone who is committed to fitness,

who is committed to walking every day.

And one of the benefits of a commitment to fitness,

of taking this walk is lowering the risk of a bunch of bad health outcomes,

including some cancers.

And yet here's this dear listener who is committed to fitness, committed to walking,

who consistently does this, who's very intentional about this, has had breast

cancer not once, but now twice.

My own wife, same thing.

She's committed to fitness, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

And then a few years ago needed surgery for diverticulitis.

A bad case of diverticulitis, and they had to remove part of her colon.

And that's a disease that a consistent, intentional exercise program can actually help lower the risk of getting that.
