No matter how often they fail, it seems people are still looking for a government program

to save the day.

They may have good intentions, but we know what road is paved with those.

It seems no matter what government programs we come up with,

eventually we the people will be punished for them.

You know, of course, I'm always reminded of a Ronald Reagan statement, the closest thing to eternal life on earth as a government program. Even when these programs fail, even when they

make a mess. Even when they make things worse,

it seems the answer is never, how about we try something else? It always seems to me throw more

money at the failed program. And I've got some examples today. We're going to start off with

healthcare. And we're going to start a healthcare discussion with monopolies. Now, again, monopolies,

that's the big bogeyman. We always, oh, monopolies, monopolies are evil. Monoplies destroy

competition. The monopolies lead to price increases. We kind of forget that the only entity

actually able to create a true monopoly is government.

If you look at all the other monopolies or any entity where there's a large market share,

it's not really a monopoly.

It's they've done things either sooner or better than everybody else and they have a large

controlling position.

And yeah, that comes with a lot of influence.

But there's nothing preventing people legally from competing with them. It's just hard.
