0:15.4	My question is this, do you subscribe to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith?

0:25.0	And in general, what are your thoughts on the confessional movement and associations?

0:31.7	Well, before I declare myself with regard to the 1689 Baptist Confession, just some
0:37.3	general thoughts, some encouraging, hopeful thoughts about confessional Christianity.
0:43.8	I think confessional Christianity, Christianity that's unified around a written confession
0:50.9	of faith.
0:53.2	Mental Christianity at its best is the best Christianity.
0:57.4	In other words, all other things being equal, it is a good thing for a people to be united
1:06.0	around a written summary of biblical truth.
1:09.6	And I've got, I think, maybe four reasons that come to mind.
1:13.6	Why that is?
1:14.6	Paul, when he was saying farewell to the elders in Ephesus, declared, I am innocent of
1:25.2	the blood of you all because I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole Council of
1:32.8	God.
1:34.1	So that phrase, whole Council of God points to some kind of unified summary of a central
1:43.0	biblical truth.
1:44.0	And Paul said to Timothy in another place, similarly, I think it's, yeah, first Timothy,
1:50.2	620, guard the deposit and trusted to you.
