Kelsey Schelling was last seen alive on February 4, 2013.

On that day, she set out alone on a road trip and never returned.

Kelsey wasn't vacationing or making the trip just for the fun of it.

She was traveling from her hometown of Denver, Colorado to Pueblo, Colorado, a town about a two-hour drive away, to visit her boyfriend, Dante Lucas.

And it was supposed to be a special visit.

We'll get to that here shortly.

Kelsey and Dante had met two years beforehand when they'd both been students at Northeastern Junior College.

At the time, Kelsey was a 19-year-old psychology major, and Dante was 18.

Dante, who'd also been a star basketball player in school, was passionate about the

sport and hoped to play professionally one day.

By early 2013, Kelsey was 21 years old, and Dante was 20.

Neither of them were attending Northeastern Junior College anymore.

Kelsey was still living in Denver, where she worked at a tile and flooring shop, but Dante

had moved to Pueblo, where he had family, reportedly for work purposes.

So their relationship had become a semi-long-distance one.
