Sitting down doing nothing, or so it would seem, this is the easy part. Just like sleeping well, when we are rested, we bring a better self to the day ahead.

Part of why meditating may seem so strange in our modern world is that it sits in contrast to so much of how we go about our everyday lives.

From hurrying to arrive on time, trying to remember

everything on our endless lists, wondering about any number of things that may try to grab our

attention is something we are constantly bombarded by. Yes, many are things we cannot control,

but there are also the way that we construct our day

and how we have habituated our approach to engaging with each day. Meditation shows us a more

peaceful way, and in the moments we take to meditate, we practice how to engage with our mind and our emotions,

and then as a result, make decisions and choose how to engage with others and the world

in a way that brings ease, peace, and freedom.

By choosing to sit still for a few moments each day, we begin to witness this ease,

and we want to carry that with us into the rest of our day, and we can. That's why we meditate,

so that we can. It will take time, but we are training in mind so that we can experience the

areas of our life as well, so that even when we are doing something, anything, it isn't as

stressful. We're more present, more engaged, and savoring what we are doing, no longer distracted by thoughts in the past,
