Summary

And it was in a fan review just lately that the author MR James was suggested to me.

So I checked him out and wow, he was a

a great story writer. Here is a short background of Montague Rhodes James.

He was an English author, medievalist scholar, and provost of King's College, Cambridge,

and of Eton College.

He was Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

Though James's work as a medievalist and scholar is still highly regarded, he is best remembered for his ghost stories,

which some regard is among the best in the genre.

James redefined the ghost story for the new century

by abandoning many of the formal Gothic cliches of his predecessors

and using more realistic contemporary settings.

James's protagonist and plots tend to reflect his own Antiquarian interest.

In other words, he creates stories that revolve around the finding of historical artifacts.
