Summary

This isn't a mistake, meatsacks! I've been wanting to show you some of the new fictional content I've been working on for awhile now. And the week of Halloween seemed like a great time to do it. This week, I'll be sharing five of my favorite Nightmare Fuels with you here on the Timesuck feed, staring with this story I wrote back in March. It's 1989 and a pawn shop owner has found some chilling home video footage of two film students investigating an urban legend set inside a local abandoned insane asylum. Hope you like it!

For anyone confused right now and thinking, what the hell is this?

0:34.3

Why is this showing up on my time suck feed?

0:36.8

Let me explain.

0:38.8

Last February,

0:43.4

I began writing short fictional horror stories and releasing two a month on the scared-to-death feed, the first Friday and the third Friday, essentially the Fridays I'm not releasing

0:48.0

short sucks here. I actually wanted to be an author, specifically a horror author, long before

0:53.9

I ever wanted to be a stand-up

0:55.1

comic, way before podcasting. But it felt so daunting to try and figure out where to begin. Much harder than

1:01.4

just showing up at an open mic, putting my name on the list, and getting five minutes to talk some shit.

1:07.2

Anyway, I've been talking to Lindsay about writing a horror novel since we very first started to date.

1:11.8

And while I still haven't written a book, I have now written a lot of stories I do plan to publish someday one way or another.

1:19.3

Until then, until I have time, I thought a few years ago, with Lindsay's encouragement,

1:24.3

why not just write them?

1:25.7

Not worry about trying to get a book deal.

1:34.3

And then release them to a fan base over on Scared to Death that already enjoys stories, me, and horror. What a perfect test audience.

1:36.3

And also with Logan getting so good at scoring episodes of Scared to Death, why not score them even more immersively like the audio version of a horror movie.

1:45.8

I didn't know if anyone would be interested, but I wanted to try it.

1:49.1

And it worked.

1:50.1

It's worked better than I ever hoped it would.

1:52.3

Over the last 20 months, these stories have gotten more positive feedback than anything else I've been doing,

1:57.0

and I absolutely love writing them.
