Garrett Nussmire, the former LSU quarterback, had to wait much longer than he expected to be selected in NFL draft.

But he did end Saturday celebrating going to the Kansas City Chief with their final pick number 2, 49 in the seventh round.

As a rookie, Nussmire is expected to be the understudy of Patrick Mahon.

He's listed at 6'1, 205 pounds, under test, NFL scouting combat that revealed a cyst on his spine, which contributed to an oblique pain that plagued him during his 2025 season. Before the senior bowl, Nussmire had been asymptomatic. He could have a procedure if that changes, which would keep him sideline for just a few

week to a lot of stitches to heal. Much of Nuss-Meyer's performance last season was complicated

by abdominal injury. In nine-game, Nuss-Mire recorded 1927 pass-of-y-yards, 12 touchdowns, and only five

interceptions.
