Really fun episode today with Nigel Calder. When I had him on the podcast, I think it must have been back in like 2017 or something.

I was shocked at the, like, I think he was the guest I had a certain expectation about. Nigel's like a

huge technical nerd. I've got all of his books here in

Mission Control, most famously his electrical and mechanical systems. And, you know, they're super

technical, nerdy books about batteries and engines and all the rest. Well, Nigel is like a proper

hippie and like grew up sailing, grew up in his backyard, making pipe

bombs and stuff. I talked about this in the last episode. So the biggest discrepancy between what I

expected from a guest versus what I actually got. Since then, I've become friends with Nigel.

He helped us design the electrical system on Falcon. He's a super interesting guy. And I caught this

episode. I wanted to record this episode because I saw an ad

for his boat for sale and I was like, holy shit, that's the, the cruising boat. It's a Mallow 46.

He built it with Mallow and customized it. We talk about all that. And he's selling it. I think

Nigel's in his mid-70s and he's reluctantly admitting that the boat's too big for him and his wife to handle now as they get older.

And you could tell there was some pain he had talking about having to move on.
