Five, ten years from now, they will call this a blind spot.

They will say they just didn't know.

It was a different time, a difficult context.

We did our best.

But we didn't.

We didn't listen to the voices of the hurting.

We didn't want to hear their perspective or hurting. We didn't want to hear their perspective

or challenges. We wanted to remain blind, to be comfortable and content. And anything that

offered new vision was silenced, told to find a new church, chased out with complaints of too

negative and too critical.

A blind spot ceases to matter. The moment the car you are about to demolish lays on its horn

and screams, you aren't seeing something here. To continue to veer in that direction, to demolish

the car anyway, to ignore the horn and plow around

recklessly, that isn't an issue with a blind spot. That's an issue with the driver.

That was a journal entry from Nicole, and today you will hear her story. It is the story of a smart,

gifted, vibrant woman of God. She accepted the Lord in college and went on to receive her

Masters of Arts in Ministry Studies. She describes a passion for the church that is spirit-filled,

and a call on her heart to be in ministry that only God could have placed there.

At the time, she felt strongly convicted that complementarian theology was truth,

and that she could be faithful to what God was calling her to within the bounds of that theology.

She would go on to take an internship at a local church where she would begin to see how hard the path for a woman gifted in ministry in these spaces truly is.
