Summary

This week we have the one of the cofounders of HolyBelly, the hippest breakfast place in Paris.

The team has opened a second location, just down the road from the first one, so I headed down to check it out.

Nico talks about the restaurant, how he is coming to terms with the word brunch (begrudgingly), and what happened when Macaulay Culkin came in for breakfast.

After Nico, we have another story from tour guide Corey Frye, this time about the oldest cafe in Paris.

Find HolyBelly here.

Earful Tower listeners, today we have an interview with Nico, the owner of the Holy Belly restaurant down in the 10th.

0:06.5

He talks about his ideal guest, why he used to hate the word brunch, and also about the story when McCauley Culkin came in for a breakfast.

But before we get to that, we've got a bit of Earful Tower news.

0:17.9

The biggest of that is, in case you missed it last week, that James Vazina,

0:22.6

my trusty sidekick, has left the show. So he's moved on to London and, yeah, I'm sitting

0:28.4

here by myself today. And what that means for you guys is that essentially if I do a joke,

0:33.3

there's no one here to laugh about it. And's not here to edit it either which means that if

0:38.2

I was to edit one of his laughs and it's me that's got to do it. Luckily for everyone I've got a bit

0:44.4

of his laughter saved from a previous episode but what it really means is now this is one-man

0:50.2

show. I'm the producer, the editor, the co-host, the, well, pretty much everything.

0:55.2

The good news, however, is that the show has never been more popular.

0:59.3

September, last month, we had a record-breaking number of listeners of a 10,000,

1:05.7

which by my mathematics is 20,000 ears, or 19,999 if Van Gogh is still subscribed.

1:17.7

Yes, see, that's what happens when I edit.

1:19.9

But in all honesty, we're thrilled with these.

1:21.9

We, I say we.

1:22.8

In all honesty, I'm thrilled with these numbers.

1:24.5

It's really good to see that something that will start at zero has come so far.

1:28.8

And I want to say a big thanks to everyone for listening. You came here to listen to Nico from Holly Belly.

1:34.0

That's what I'm going to play for you guys now. Thank for all your support so far and hopefully into the future.

1:38.8

Here's a chat that I had with Nico from Holly Belly inside his restaurant. So that's why you hear a bit of music in the background,

1:44.7

a bit of cluttering of knives and forks.
