Eagles head coach Nick Siriani essentially named Jalen Hertz as his starting quarterback on Wednesday, noting that the starters in practice are who the team views as their starters heading into the preseason

Benali against the Jets.

Hertz has taken every practice rep with the first team offense throughout the summer.

He has seemingly been on a role since being forced to sit out of the preseason matchup against

the Patriots due to a stomach illness last week.

Hertz was electric in joint practices against the Jets this week, tossing touchdown passes with

regularity. He has found his groove with the wide receiver trio of Devante Smith, Jalen Rager,

and Quez Watkins.

Former first-round pick, Andre Dillard, returned to practice this week against the Jets.

While Dillard was able to work in both joint workouts, he only received second team reps with

Jordan Melaida handling first team left tackle duties. Nixiris. was able to work in both joint workouts. He only received second team reps with Jordan

Malata handling first team left tackle duties. Nick Siriani says the left tackle competition

is still open, but all signs seem to be pointing to Malada who outperformed Dillard all summer.

If Malada receives the nod, the Eagles could look to shop Dillard on the trade market.

Former first round pick, defensive end Derek Barnett was sidelined throughout the week with

a shoulder injury. Listed as day-to-day, Barnett is in the middle of an intense competition
