I'm Jesse Thorn. This week I'm talking with Nick Hornby, best-selling author, turned Hollywood

dinner party attendee.

And I got my plate and I filled it with all this lovely food and I looked around and

I thought well I can't go and sit down there because Merrill is talking to George and I

can't just plonk myself in the middle of them but it was like somebody's living room

and I recognised everybody in the room but I did want to sit down and put my meal on

my lap and eat it.

So in the end I thought well I don't care if Adam Sandler doesn't want me sitting there

I'm going to go and sit there because he's got a whole safer to himself and I need

to eat my teeth.

Coming up I'll sit down with Nick Hornby. His latest novel Funny Girl is about a kind

of British Newsealed bar.

One of the things I've slightly run out of steam with is writing about the remainder

of the certain age now because I can't figure out what their problems are anymore.

Just do it.
