And I'm not just saying that because I was up late last night watching Team USA win gold in the World Junior.

It's an exciting turn of the calendar for many, many reasons.

And I am really excited that the first episode of 2021 has not one,

but two of my favorite people that I've encountered covering hockey in a decade plus of covering the sport,

Nick Filino, who may be one of the friendliest hockey players on the planet, not just friendly,

like just all around great guy, incredible person, Columbus Blue Jackets captain, and his wife,

Janelle, I got to know it a little bit

a few years ago back when the All-Star game was in Columbus and heard the story of their

daughter, Milana, in the heart valve surgery. It was, had really never been done to a baby that small, that young, and told a story for ESPN that was, you know, they opened up their house, spent some time there and really, you know, talked to their doctors.

It was, it was gut wrenching.

It was, it was hard.

But I really think they did it because they wanted to raise

awareness about the process, the procedure, and provide hope to any families that were going

through something similar. And it's not surprising to me a few years later. Now they've got

three children, Hudson, Landon, and Milana, and that they've continued to raise awareness on this front.

And now they're doing it through writing a children's book.

And that was really, I mean, that was the emphasis to have them on the show.

But really, it was just exciting for me to catch up with them.
