Can't quite believe I'm about to say this. It is 7 o'clock in the morning and the Wilmslow Health Centre is getting ready to open its doors.

We're here in Cheshire, spending an entire day in this particular GP practice to find out exactly what the pressures are on this

one part of the health service because if we all know GPs primary care it is but one link in a very very long chain

we're going to be finding out how strong this particular link is over the next few hours

Wilmslow Health Centre, it's down a quiet side street in this leafy satellite town on the edge of Manchester.

Certainly an affluent place, you might know it, for being the home of soap stars and footballers' wives.

The surgery has around about 15,000 patients on its books. Amongst them, yes, there are some celebs, but not everybody. They've got people from all backgrounds using their services.

To describe the building itself, well, it's certainly modern.

Reception area is bright, even in a cold January day, as it's filled with sun from the skylights

two floors above.

But like all GP surgeries, it also has lots of little consulting rooms where the surgery's nine GPs, four nurses and various other medical staff all work.

The surgery itself doesn't open until 8 in the morning, and that's when the lines for booking appointments open as well.

Good morning, Moulso Health Centre. Now, staff told me there actually weren't as many calls as usual coming through today,

and that might be because they've introduced a pretty innovative way of dealing with the high demand

that GPs across the country are facing.
