The Eagles just hired a guy that had been interning with the Phillies.

And this guy was part of a team of two people who won the NFL's Big Data Bowl, something

the NFL sponsors every year.

And the guy that the Eagles hired said that the project they had created created an algorithm

that can identify coverages in real time based on the computer's analysis

of the defenders on the field. The model used technology developed by them, well, developed

by a company called Summer, S-U-M-E-R, Summer Sports, achieved an accuracy level of 89% based only on pre-snap alignment.

So 89% of the time the computer could see who was on the field and where they were,

and 89% of the time correctly identified what the coverage was going to be.

And it adjust in real time as defensive players move.

And it knows which defensive players are the worst offenders at giving away the

coverages before the snap.
