As we're recording this, Paul Burmeister, my NBC Pal and I, we are exactly halfway through the regular season.

136 games have been played, 136 games are to be played in the second half of this season.

And I don't want this podcast to be all about history, but I do want to discuss something from the 136th game of the season,

the Pittsburgh Steelers narrow victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday night football.

Paul, I have to tell you, I had no intention of making this harangue about officiating

because most of the time I find that about officiating

officiating are fairly useless.

They're going to be missed calls and they're going to be calls that you disagree with in the

course of every season.

You just have to overcome them.

But on Monday night there were three calls in the Steelers Bears game that really kind of drove me up a wall.

And I'm going to start with one that we have a screenshot of that I'm going to explain so people who are watching this podcast are going to be able to see a screenshot of what I'm about to describe.

But basically, with nine minutes left in the third quarter, the Chicago Bears scored a touchdown.

because they had been struggling offensively

the entire night for the first 35 minutes.

So they scored this touchdown but wait a minute there's a flag.
