Summary

Ohhh baby. With his Draft rankings in the rearview, Simms talks to a trio of his favorite prospects with Draft Day a week away. (1:40) Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond on why he deserves to be a first-round pick, why he chose to do the 'Zach Wilson Throw' at his Pro Day, and how he self-scouted himself across 4 years with the Aggies. (42:15) Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley on why teams should take a risk on him, how he talks trash, and his battle in college with Chase Claypool. (1:15:35) UNC WR Dyami Brown on concerns about his route tree, when he knew he was really fast, and why opponents should never leave a CB 1-on-1 with him.

0:30.0

Three of my favorite players in the draft, specifically guys that I feel like are being a little underappreciated. Want to get to know them a little bit, you know, get them out here in the big scene, the NFL world.

0:41.2

So I hope you enjoy these first one. You're going to hear telling month. Yeah, one of my favorite quarterbacks in the draft. He was my number four guy. I think he is vastly underappreciated as far as what he could do to do on the field at the quarterback position. I view him as a first round quarterback Caleb Farley.

0:57.0

One of the best corners I've ever seen in my life coming out of college. I mean, that's there's no other way to put it. You know, the first biggest he is the way he moves everything like that. He COVID opt out. Oh, COVID opt out. He had back surgery. I don't know where he goes. This is the great thing about this draft this year. I really don't, but I know the dude is a stud. So this. He was a great interview. Listen to that. A lot of fun there. And the last one is Deami Brown. I mean, speed, speed, speed. Sioux. If you heard that, that was Deami Brown.

1:27.0

I'm going for an 80 yard touchdown. I mean, Deami Brown. Again, these are Christmas specials here. Mom, Deami Brown, Caleb Farley. I got a man Christian, all of them. I think they're all awesome. I think they're all being underappreciated. I hope you guys enjoy these interviews today. Yo, yo, yo, what's up? It's Chris Sims. Welcome to Chris Sims. I'm buttoned and we got an interview today. And anybody's been listening to my podcast. No, I like this guy a lot. A lot. A lot.

1:57.0

Okay. First round quarterback. That's right. I'm saying it. He's a first round quarterback. Kellen Mond. What's up, dude? How are you? I'm good. I appreciate you for having me. No, no problem at all. Glad to have you. I'm a big fan of yours. I really am. The first thing. I mean, I just got to get some business out of the way and things like this. I mean, this is hook him. Verse Gagum in this interview right here. Texas or Texas A&M. You know, I just want to talk some crap to you for a second. You know, I owned your school. I owned

2:27.0

your school when I was at college. Hey, I was I wasn't there. So I don't know what y'all would have done in the SEC. We'll see. No, that's very true. And like, no, in all seriousness, too, it was a great memory for me in my college football career. Texas Texas A&M. Are you like disappointed at all that that rivalry hasn't, you know, gone on and you didn't get to experience it at all?

2:51.0

Well, I mean, it's kind of foreign for me just because, you know, all the pretty much ain't in fans are like rivalry, Texas and Texas A&M. But, you know, me who just got there in 2017, it was just like, you know, I don't really see the rivalry.

3:05.0

So, you know, I'm sure some A&M people would kind of be mad at that statement. But, you know, you know, I think we need to find some type of SEC rival just because we were able to play them every year.

3:16.0

Right. No, I hear you. You're right. I mean, it's it's going to the old school guys like me talking about that rivalry now. I wish they would bring it back nonetheless because it does have a special place for me, but regardless. All right. So let's jump in on you. All right. This is, I'm excited to talk to you for a whole bunch of reasons. All right. First thing I just want to say, like someone never seen you play before. What tape you going to hand them and say, watch this.

3:43.0

I mean, honestly, I think you can piece kind of games from each and every year. I think the true foundation of my game and where I think it exploded one mentally, but also physically.

3:55.0

I think was the Florida game this year and just really just the efficiency, you know, on third down, but also being able to score in the red zone and compete with another high powered offense and another quarterback who's in this class, which kind of adds that extra flavor during the game.

4:10.0

So it was definitely a huge game for me to win and, you know, that definitely shot up one of our teams confidence, but also my own.

4:18.0

Yeah, I mean, I understand that. I mean, I hear, listen, as as a Kellyanne mon fan, I'd say turn on the Alabama or Florida game from this year, and you're going to see some like unbelievable plays and throws against two of the better teams in college football. So I'm with you. I got your back there. All right.

4:35.0

Like, so the positives and we're going to hit a lot more pauses, but like, all right, here's the negative game, right? Oh, the LSU game. What happened there? You know, like just for you personally, I mean, what, what did you learn from that game and kind of like what's your takeaway that it wasn't the greatest statistical performance?

4:55.0

You know, for me, I always tried to, especially this year in the probably the past couple of years, try to look at every game as some type of learning experience. And I think one of the biggest ones, you know, after a game we won, but also a game that I was kind of pissed off at.

5:11.0

And just because of the way that I played and, you know, my whole entire offense played.

5:15.0

And so obviously I have super high expectations for, you know, me and the whole entire offense.

5:20.0

So, but you know, it just kind of goes back to, you know, no matter how the game ends, you know, as long as it's a win, you know, there's always reasons to be happy.

5:30.0

And, you know, there's going to be games in the NFL where you just kind of have to continue to grind out and grind out and win a one score game.

5:37.0

That's, you know, 10 to 7. So I think those are, those are always huge, but one of those biggest learning experience, but I think for me, just I think a lot of, a lot of teams say they talk about, you know, Zach Wilson, I haven't much time to prepare for Coastal Carolina.

5:52.0

But, you know, the same reason LSU, you know, we had 30 plus guys quarantined, you know, the two weeks before.
