It's a Monday edition of Pro Football Talk Live, first day of June, and we hope the turning of the month turns the page on some difficult times in our nation.

Throughout the pandemic, we would say almost every day we're here to provide a diversion, a distraction from the things that are going on that may otherwise be troubling you.

We know that people need to have that normalcy.

People need to have that break from the more difficult news to process.

But sometimes the news intersects with football and it clearly intersects with football.

So we're going to have to spend some time the day and and we want to spend some time the day, dealing with the issues that currently are ripping the country apart and dealing with the manner in which the NFL is dealing with those issues. Now, there's plenty of football still to get to, and it will come. Do not please have that knee-jerk reaction. Oh, we don't want to listen to this. We don't want to hear this. I think we all need to hear it. We all need to listen to it. We all need to understand the NFL's perspective. And Chris and I have our own perspectives that will be woven into this discussion over the course of the next couple of segments before we pivot back to

football. With that, I say, good morning to you, Chris. You have a haircut. Again, you look good.

I'm trying to make this normal. I'm trying to, this isn't going to be an easy day, but we're going to

handle this the way we handle everything. We're going to be honest. We're going to be candid.

We're going to be ourselves. We're going to try to do the show we always do. But this is a different kind of a day. This is a different kind of a show. Hello. How are you? You're right. I mean, it was a long weekend for our whole country. There's a lot going on, as we know. And there's a lot to delve into here. And a lot of issues and sides are different angles to the

story and a lot of different things here. So let's get into it and go ahead and need the charge,

Guy. Yeah, and look, we've had some statements issued by teams, by owners, by plenty of players.

We'll talk about quarterbacks who are issuing their statements and taking their

stands later in the hour.

But the two statements that have struck me as the strongest and the most candid, the

most potent and the most willing to risk backlash come from two people.

Dolphins coach Brian Flores and Raiders owner, Mark Davis.

And we'll start with the Flores statement that came out on Friday, and it was powerful.

I've had the privilege of being a part of many different circles that have included some very

powerful and influential people of all different races and genders.

I vividly remember the Colin Kaepernick conversations.

Don't ever disrespect the flag was the phrase that I heard over and over again.
