The NFL Combine is one of the most overrated things that we have in sports.

Yeah, you can learn a couple things from it.

But when it comes to a true evaluation, it's really more of a beauty pageant than anything.

And game tape is the most important thing. I would go as far as to say, the meetings are more important than anything else that happens at the combine.

The fact that nobody's wearing pads, there's no pass rush for quarterbacks,

and the 40 is a straight line is like trying to judge a chef without even letting them in an actual

kitchen. So Will Campbell has short arms. So does a T-Rex, but at the end of the day, they both

get the job done when it matters the most. Yes, Tess Johnson ran a four or five too, but turn on the tape.

You have a better chance of catching a fart in a hurricane than this guy in space. Now, my father

was an all-American and NFL linebacker, and he used to say when it comes to linebackers running a

40, if you've got to run 40 yards to catch somebody at that position, I don't want you.

So yes, it's a fun event. It gives us a little more football to talk about.

But at the end of the day, guys running around in spandex is very far removed from finding out

how good of a player they are when actual organized football is played.
