It's an honor now to sign this incredible bill and get our country working again.

That's President Donald Trump signing the funding bill, putting an end to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

But while Republicans looked to put the 43-day stalemate behind them, another shutdown could be brewing.

Democrats were furious at their colleagues for supporting this plan because it did not have an extension of subsidies under

As part of this deal, John Thune, the Senate Majority Leader, agreed to hold a vote in his

But the Speaker of the House has made clear he has no interest in extending the Affordable

Care Act subsidies.

come January 30th, because that's the next deadline to fund the government.

The criminal cases against two of Trump's political enemies are set to face a critical test today.

Attorneys for former FBI director James Comey and New York Attorney General

Letitia James are arguing in court that the prosecutor who brought the charges against them

is unlawfully serving in her post. Their target is Lindsay Halligan, who was handpicked by

President Trump to be the interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, after

her predecessor was ousted for resisting bringing charges against James.

It's a complicated case, but the defendant's arguments is relatively straightforward.

A U.S. attorney can only serve 120 days on a temporary basis before needing to be confirmed by the Senate.

And that period had passed by the time Halligan was put into the role for the judicial district in September.
