I'm John Batchew, Professor Evan Ellis, and we go to Chile where there's an election pending

later on this year, I believe. But at this point, we have a wonderful headline that would

confound the 19th century. For one, the headline is copper has never been more expensive.

I think it's 569 or 579 a pound, copper has never been more expensive. I think it's $5.69 or $5.79 a pound,

which is nosebleed territory for commodity traders. Then we have this headline from Chile.

Chile bumps up copper price forecast, flags lagging output. These are two independent mine producing,

Anglo-American and Glencore.

They want them to produce more.

Despite the price, which is meaning money is pouring into Chile,

all that is a positive for Chile.

It was blessed with natural resources.

However, we come to the part where the 19th century would be entertained. After a

primary, there is a major candidate from the left side for the presidency. Her name is

Jeanette Hara. And she is an avowed and very well prepared and extremely educated communist.

She doesn't hedge.

She doesn't say socialist.

She says communist.

She's saddled with an unpopular incumbent president.

Chile's left has made a bold choice, writes Reuters, to contest a resurgent right in November's election, a member of the

Communist Party.

Okay.
