Colombian Senator Eribe shows little response to treatment after shooting.

The explanation, Arribé, 39, is a member of the opposition right-wing Democratic Center Party,

and he was shot in the head as he was addressing a campaign event on Saturday in a public park in Bogota.

A potential presidential contender, he remains in critical condition and has shown little response to treatment after being

shot. Ernesto, political assassination is far too familiar in the Americas these last several hundred

years, but most recently, it seems to have been contained to a few notable, very high-profile incidents.

I'm thinking of the assassination attempt on your president, Mr. Bolsonaro in 2018,

and I'm thinking of the shooting death of several candidates in the Ecuadorian campaign of 2023.

Columbia is not where I would have said there would be that kind of conduct by anyone,

but this looks very clearly like a political assassination.

Shot in the head does not promise anything for the future for Mr.

Arribes's campaign plans.

However, the largest story is Colombia.

What's happened to one of the strongest economies in the Americas,

a very close friend of Washington,

and now going through a bad patch because Gustavo Petro, the elected president, one term,

you can't succeed yourself, has disappointed many of his supporters and his approval

rating is very low.
