CPI number is crashing. I know that likely their

understates the real rate of consumer price inflation,

but what we have to focus on as investors

got to focus on the trend.

And then also what this highlights

is how ridiculous it is that people actually believe

the central banks control the economy or their balance sheet matters or that

there are these scientists who can quantify every little component of the economy and they can just dial it in perfectly.

If we say that the correct inflation rate is 2%, Well, damn it, you better believe us.

Because we're the smart ones, you guys are just the dumb rubs and the real economy.

There's a lot to this story. But let's start by looking at what's happening with the headline

CPI in the UK. This just out today. Let's shoot over to

C. M. C. M. C. UK inflation falls over to

C. M. C. UK inflation falls sharply to 1.7%. Now this is down from 2.2 last month.

So when I'm talking about it collapsing,

I'm not saying it's down from like 1.8%.

I mean that is a massive move.

5, 50 basis points in one month, year over year.

Now maybe there was some base effects in there, but even the month over month numbers are

really headed towards deflation,

at least the way they measure it.
