This is the news. Now, we're going to kick this one off by talking about Vince McMahon,

a topic I'm pretty sure all of us have probably heard just about enough of over the past

couple of years in particular. However,

some new stuff came out about Vince and his various lawsuits and his role in WWE over the past

couple of days. If you haven't seen the excellent report from Brandon Fursten on some pieces

surrounding the takeover of WWE by Endeavour and Vince McMahon's resignation and some messages that were passed around the company saying,

hey, basically he's going to be back, which was, you know, its crux, kind of very important to one of the ongoing lawsuits

suggesting that Vince was trying to negotiate a deal that would maximize his return in terms of staying in power

rather than what was best for the value of the shareholders.

A bunch of stuff came out.

Part of that, probably one of the more interesting parts, I think, from a pure wrestling standpoint,

right, removing the business aspect, was a message that the leaked between Vince, Bruce

Pritchard and Nick Cannes, where Vince had basically asked, hey, do Cody and Roman know the updated plans for WrestleMania 39?

And what's happening next year and all of that stuff? This is interesting as it would have come after he had resigned, but he did retain a bunch of power.

Of course, so the insinuation was that he made the call on this WrestleMania 39 main event, which was, of course, Cody Rhodes losing to Roman Reigns. It was pretty controversial at the time, but I think most of us would probably agree it worked out for the best that way, because then we got 40, which was just absolutely awesome. But Dave Meltzer has an update here from Wrestling Observer Radio on this situation.

And I'm going to read you his exact quotes, just so we get all of the details. It's quite a long one, so bear with me. And he said, basically, it was Roman Raines' suggestion to beat Cody at WrestleMania 39. It was Roman Raines' call. I mean, Vince had to approve it, but Roman Rainins was the one who went to Vince with the idea and pitched the idea that it would be better. It would be more meaningful if he didn't win the first time. That's in Cody didn't win the first time, obviously. We built to a bigger one the second time and explained it. He continued. I think Haman and Reins did that. I think they were very persuasive. The argument's very strong with the benefit of hindsight that they were right because the second year was much bigger than the first year. But Vince made the call and Lavec was on board with that's Triple H, Polovic, was on board with the call, but Vince was the one who made the call. She says the call a lot here. Vince was the one who had final say at that point. He had final say the whole time. He was chairman of the board or whatever. He was in charge of the company and he remained having the final say. Even though, Levec was in charge of creative. Yeah, so even though Vince resigned from his position as CEO and chairman.

He was still, you know, the dominant shareholder for a while there in WWE until the sale was complete.
