I'm Jason Epperson. This is RV Miles, and it's time for the latest in RV and camping news.

0:06.8

Welcome back, everybody. First up, RV sales data continues to bounce around a bit.

0:11.5

After July's slight rise in sales over the same month in 2024, August saw a 4.67% drop,

0:19.3

according to independent analysis from statistical surveys Surveys Inc. of new vehicle

0:24.0

registrations. That's certainly better than last August, which saw an 8% drop, but a drop is still a drop.

0:31.1

When you divide things up, though, it's clear that the more expensive units are far underperforming

0:36.0

cheaper travel trailers.

0:46.3

Motorized RVs were down over 10% in August, with Class A motorhomes bearing the brunt of it, down almost 30%. Fifth wheels and Class B motorhomes were down in the 11 to 12% range, while Class C motorhomes outperformed the market with less than half a percent drop,

0:55.3

and conventional travel trailers dropped 1.37%, basically statistically, even on the year. So the number

1:03.1

of units sold maybe down around 5% over last August, but the dollar value of those sales

1:09.3

is surely down significantly more.

1:12.2

Statistical surveys has begun tracking used RVs as well, which have seen a slight

1:16.5

increase up 1.09% year over year with used Class B motorhomes outperforming the market up over

1:24.7

11%. The RV dealership association has released its Quality

1:29.0

Circle Awards honoring 23 RV brands for achieving the highest scores in the association's 31st

1:35.7

annual dealer satisfaction index survey. These brands received at least 15 dealer responses and

1:42.2

scored 4.25 or above on a five-point scale in overall

1:46.3

dealer satisfaction in the association's survey conducted June through September. So take this

1:52.6

with a grain of salt. These were brands that dealers, the people that are trying to sell you the

1:56.8

RV think are best. Sometimes that's because they make more profit on the unit or it just

2:01.6

sells better even though it's called the Quality Circle Award. However, dealers are asked

2:06.5

to consider reliability, quality, and how responsive that manufacturer is with parts and warranty
