Welcome back everybody. First up, the National Highway Traptic Safety Administration is investigating

grand design RV for frame-related issues. The NHTSA's Office of Defects investigation says

it's received 23 complaints alleging excessive

frame flex on model year 2017 to 2023 Grand Design, Momentum and Solitude Fifth Wheels. Frame issues

have been a big topic of conversation amongst RVers this year and often things like this

investigated by the NHTSA because their primary concern is road safety and not vehicle quality

issues, but 22 of the complaints alleged that excessive frame flex resulted in a cargo or entry

door opening while in transit, some with objects lost on the roadways,

while six complaints also stated that slideouts partially extended.

So obviously these are serious safety concerns.

The NHTSA says it's been in contact with both Grand Design and Lippert, the frame manufacturer,

and that Grand Design believes that some frame flex

generally considered to be vertical movement in the upper deck area of the fifth wheel is normal.

However, Grand Design has developed a technical service bulletin, a TSB, to evaluate concerns of

excessive frame flex.

They're sending out technicians to measure and check these things,

which they define as a vertical movement greater than three-eighths of an inch. The NHTSA report

says that per grand design, the frame flex is only occurring in the upper deck area of fifth
