0:06.1	First up, just over a month after the electric coachman RVX Motorhome prototype debuted,
0:12.6	GM has decided to cease producing the chassis it was to be built on the Chevy Bright Drop.
0:19.4	Bright Drop electric vans were primarily aimed at the last-mile delivery market and were
0:24.5	produced in Ingersoll, Ontario.
0:27.1	Forest River's coachman nameplate planned to use the chassis for the RV home, and the
0:32.4	chassis was already being used for Detroit-based boutique RV maker Grounded's EV camper vans. GM cited slower than
0:40.1	expected demand in the commercial EV market, saying that the company will, quote,
0:44.6	reevaluate the plant for future opportunities. This is not a decision we made lightly.
0:49.5	The commercial electric van market has been developing much slower than expected, and changes to regulations
0:55.3	and fleet incentives have made the business even more challenging. Bright Drop launched with
1:00.2	high hopes to compete with Ford's E-Transit and Rivian's Amazon delivery vans. It sold about
1:05.8	7,500 units to date far behind Ford's 27,000 and Rivians 30,000. A Forest River representative
1:13.8	told me that Arvex isn't dead yet, saying, quote, although the development of the chassis for
1:19.4	RVX was discontinued, Coachman is actively exploring other chassis manufacturing options to continue
1:25.4	moving the RVX concept forward. The ARVX created great momentum
1:29.2	and excitement across the industry and we remained highly focused on identifying the best path
1:34.2	to bring it to the open road. Sam Shapiro, founder and CEO of Grounded, said in a statement
1:39.8	on the company's website that Grounded is platform agnostic, meaning the company can, quote,
1:45.2	turn a variety of different OEM vehicles into smart module mobile spaces for different use cases.
1:51.4	Our current lineup of products includes offerings on the GM Bright Drop, the Ford E-Transit,
1:56.1	and the Harbinger battery electric vehicle, and gasoline hybrid chassis.
