But let's get into the regular RV in camping news right now.

First of all, Vermont could soon join a growing trend in camping, but one that's not

usually for publicly operated state parks, dynamic pricing for campsites.

The state's Department of Forest Parks and Recreation is proposing new rules

that would allow campground fees to fluctuate based on demand, popularity, and even the day of the

week. Right now, Vermont state parks mostly use a fixed pricing system. Campers pay the same rate

for a campsite depending on the type of site, the amenities, and whether they're Vermont residents. But

under the proposal, the department would gain more flexibility to raise prices at high-demand parks

and offer discounts at underused parks during slower midweek periods.

State Parks Director Nate McKean says the goal isn't to discourage visitors,

but to help the park system keep up with booming demand while avoiding the massive fee hikes that can happen when rates stay frozen for years at a time.

The proposal would also allow for the state to adjust reservation minimum stays and maximum stays depending on the demand and campsite type.

Before the pandemic, Vermont State Park saw around 600,000 annual visitors, and now they're seeing more than a million visits each year, putting a lot more strain on campgrounds, roads, bathrooms, and other infrastructure.

Vermont isn't the only state that uses this kind of pricing model. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware all have a similar system.

Vermont is not proposing any fee increases for this summer.
